In April, she underwent surgery to have a Venous Sinus Stent placed to improve blood flow in her brain. She has also undergone multiple surgeries to relieve dangerous intracranial pressure and lives with a VP shunt. In October, the high pressure caused a stroke affecting the temporal region on the left side of her brain.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe challenges did not stop there. In July 2024, Erica underwent two kidney surgeries to save her right kidney. Unfortunately, the medication required to manage her IIH has begun affecting both her kidneys and liver, leaving her under close medical supervision.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs if the physical battle wasn't enough, Erica was laid off from her job on January 8, 2026, due to her health conditions. With the loss of her employment came the loss of her health insurance. Now, every doctor's appointment, treatment, medication, hospital stay, parking fee, and medical expense must be paid entirely out of pocket.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUnable to work and currently waiting for Social Security assistance, Erica continues to face mounting medical bills while fighting for her health every day.
